Audi pulls the Q8 e-tron from production early

The Ingolstadt automaker will be discontinuing the all-electric Q8 e-tron and Q8 Sportback e-tron models ahead of schedule.

The likeliest reason is that both models are essentially just lightly refreshed versions of the original Audi e-tron introduced way back in 2018. Both are quite dated and have rather poorly sales, especially since there is a cheaper and more modern alternative in the Q6 e-tron.

This likely isn’t the only cause, however. The company’s factory complex in Brussels, Belgium, where these cars are made, is experiencing logistical difficulties. It no longer assembles other cars and is scheduled for downsizing in the near future. Out of approximately 3,000 workers currently employed at the factory, almost a half will be dismissed in October, with another 600 set to follow them in early 2025.
