Chinese automaker BAW has published the first images of the new model called the 212, inspired by the legendary military off-roader Beijing BJ212.
The BJ212 (see video) has undergone multiple updates and is still on sale in China. The BAW 212 will be styled in the same vein, but will be larger with more interior space and added engine power.
Rumor has it the off-roader will utilize a hybrid powertrain rated above 400 PS (394 hp / 294 kW). It will reportedly consist of a 1.5-liter petrol turbo engine and two electric motors. We will know more when it debuts, which should be soon.
