China’s Jeep Wrangler wannabe gets a Blade Hero Edition

The new Beijing BJ40 Blade Hero Edition is available for purchase with modern digital services on board and a wider selection of exterior finishes. Pricing starts at 170,000 Yuan.

The new colors are Chameleon and Royal Blue. The infotainment system now supports a number of popular Chinese apps like WeChat, recognizes voice commands and lets you monitor the car remotely via smartphone. You can even warm up the engine or turn on the AC remotely.

From the engine point of view, there are only two options. The petrol one has 2.3 liters of displacement and produces 230 PS (227 hp / 169 kW) and 345 Nm (254 lb-ft) of torque. The diesel one is smaller at two liters and makes 163 PS (161 hp / 120 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft). The transmission can be manual or automatic.

In late July, Beijing launched two other trim versions of the BJ40, named Meta 40 and City Hunter (shown in the attached video).
