The British automaker automaker promises us impressive performance and a comeback of a legendary nameplate, posting a series of teasers of what looks like the latest Continental GT with some aero on.
Discernible parts include a large spoiler integrated into the trunk lid, more clearly delineated rear fenders, added details behind the wheel arches and quad tailpipes. Overall, the car strongly resembles the prototype that was spied on the roads in the UK in early summer.
The most popular hypothesis is that the car is a Continental GT Supersports. That nameplate had been previously used for various W12-powered special editions, now discontinued due to the emission laws. Back in August, the media speculated that the Supersports was coming back with a turbocharged, but not electrified V8 rated at 650 PS (641 hp / 478 kW) or so.
This remains to be seen. If Bentley actually plans to produce such a car, it will be less powerful than the Continental Speed, but also much lighter and more fun to drive thanks to its rear-wheel drive and tuned suspension. We should be able to learn more before the end of the year. Bentley has already hinted that it would be a limited edition and not a mass-produced model.
