BMW tells us about its most memorable MotoGP pace cars

BMW M will be celebrating 20 years of partnership with the MotoGP racing series next year. Ever since 1999, the company has been providing the FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix with some of the coolest safety cars out there. To celebrate the anniversary, BMW has released the video dedicated to the most interesting and memorable of its creations.

The footage mainly focuses on recent models like the M2, M4 and M5, but it also pays homage to the older ones, such as the wondrous Z8 roadster (2002) or the controversial X6 M (2009).

The cooperation between BMW M and MotoGP extends beyond the safety car territory, though. The German car manufacturer has a tradition of awarding an M series vehicle to the winning qualifier of the year. This might seem a bit controversial, since the winner’s prizes – an M6 Coupe, M4 Coupe, M6 Convertible, M2 Coupe, M4 CS and M3 CS – all went to Marc Marquez over the course of the past six years.
