Gorgeous BMW 507 restomod looking for a buyer with €2M

A rare 1958 BMW 507 Roadster, one of just 252 such cars ever made, will cross the auction block in Paris, France on February 5, 2025. The auction house evaluates it between €1.75 million and €2 million.

The car belongs to the so-called Series II. Compared to the first series dated 1956–57, it features an improved fuel tank layout that leaves much more free space for the interior and the trunk. Assembled in May 1958, this particular example had only spent a month in Europe before leaving for Havana, Cuba, where it proceeded to stay for three decades.

Someone brought it back into Germany in the mid-1980s and sold to it current owner in 1988. The new owner had spent six years of hard work and 560,000 DM to restore it – an amount of money that was roughly equal to U.S. $330,000 in late 1993. The original ivory body was resprayed in black, and grey leather was chosen for the seat and door panel trim. Despite the extensive restoration, the car has somehow kept its stock Rudge centerlock wheels.

Power for the restomod comes from a non-stock 3.2-liter V8, but the seller is offering the stock powertrain for free along with the car. An optional soft top, a spare fuel tank and a maintenance manual are included as well.
