BMW X4 successor spied in camo

BMW has begun testing its next coupe-shaped SUV – the iX4 – on the roads, Carscoops reports with a handful of spy photos. It looks based on the same platform as the previously revealed iX3 (see video), just less sports-focused. The current X4 generation only has a few weeks left before retirement.

Based on the images, the front end looks completely identical to that of the iX3, but the rear end is new. The roofline is more sloped, receding towards the bumper, the window is a different shape and the rear wheel arches are wider. The taillights are also new, and the same seems true for the wheels.

Carscoops reckons that the new iX4 is slightly longer than the iX3 and has a lower-drag profile, but the wheelbase stays the same. From what little the photographer could glimpse, the interior seemed exactly the same as in the iX3. This leads us to believe that the two will ship with the same selection of powertrains, including range-topping electric motors for the M lineup.

While still not official, anonymous sources claim the BMW iX4 is slated for debut in the second half of 2026.
