Few stock cars can compete against the Porsche 911 Turbo S on the track, even if it is just a quarter-mile drag strip. Then again, everything becomes possible with enough tuning. Will this tweaked BMW M3 Comp make a worthy enough rival? Carwow has the answer.
The Porsche sports car approaches the start line in its stock guise, packing a 3.8-liter flat-six engine turbocharged to 650 PS (641 hp / 478 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission drives all four wheels. The curb weight is 1.640 kilos (3,615 lbs).
Going up against it is a BMW M3 Competition packing a 3.0-liter inline-six mill normally outputting 510 PS (503 hp / 375 kW) and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque. In this particular case, however, the engine pushes out 750 PS (740 hp / 552 kW) thanks to numerous modifications. The peak torque is no less impressive at 900 Nm (664 lb-ft). The curb weight is a liability at 1,780 kilos (3,924 lbs), though.
