Capricorn 01 Zagato details: 19 units total, $3.5M+ each

Niche automaker Capricorn has attended the recent retromobile show in France with its first supercar called simply the 01. It debuted in Belgium a few months ago sporting an exterior by Zagato, but we didn’t know all the specs back then.

As it not turns out, the vehicle comes based on a custom carbon-fiber monocoque chassis and relies on a Ford-sourced 5.2-liter supercharged V8 for propulsion. Having been rebuilt from the ground up, the engine pumps out over 900 PS (888 hp / 662 kW) and up to 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque to the rear wheels.

Equipped like this, the coupe goes 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in under three seconds and can theoretically hit 360 km/h (223 mph) in a straight line. What’s especially impressive is that it weighs as little as 1,200 kilograms (2,645 pounds) before liquids and comes with a five-speed manual gearbox for rowing your own gears.

As gorgeous as the all-carbon exterior may look, it arguably pale in comparison to the fully analog interior. There’s not a single digital display in view, all gauges, buttons and controls are mechanical, and the steering wheel is perfectly round. The whole looks like a love letter to the automotive design of the past, if you ask us.

Capricorn claims that “only a few” vehicles remain available for ordering. Prices in Europe start from €2,950.000, which roughly corresponds to U.S. $3,500,000.
