Dacia has facelifted its Spring EV advertised as the cheapest in its class. The orders will be processed starting in spring, and the first shipments will be made in summer.
Judging by the photos, the unibody design has stayed the same overall with the only major changes concerning the front and the rear. New front bumper, frunk lid, headlights and emphasized wheel arches make the new Spring look much closer to the latest Duster. The side sills wear replaceable black trims, and a gloss insert at the rear end helps tie the taillights into a stylistic whole. The light signatures are standard Dacia fare, but those interested in a bit of premium feel may finally opt for 16-inch wheels straight from the factory.
Inside, the dashboard is completely new and houses a standard 7-inch digital gauge display. The head unit has 10 inches of diagonal size, but you will have to pay for a higher trim level to get it – the base trim nets you a smartphone holder, and that’s that. The steering wheel, the HVAC controls and the transmission selector are all new. Dacia promises new trimming materials and color combos, but their availability is limited by your chosen trim level.
Thanks to a better-appointed interior, the trunk size goes up by 6%: 308 liters (10.9 cubic feet) with the seats up and 1,004 liters (35.5 cubic feet) with them folded down. The frunk provides another 35 liters (1.24 cu. ft.).
Like before, you can choose between two electric motors rated at 45 and 65 PS (44 and 64 hp; 33 and 48 kW, respectively). The good news is that the more powerful motor is now available in most trim versions and not just the most expensive ones. The Spring EV still needs almost 14 seconds for its sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph). A 26.8-kWh battery on board gives it around 220 km (136 miles) of range.
The pricing details are pending, but Dacia continues to call the Spring the cheapest crossover EV in all of Europe.
