Gorgeous-looking Dodge Challenger droptop conversion fails to sell

The Dodge Challenger is popular enough in the United States for its owners to want some more in-depth personalization options. One man went a step farther than most, though, and turned his coupe into a convertible.

Florida-based Drop Top Customs, which has performed such conversions before, sawed off the fixed metallic top and put a folding cloth roof in its place. Once finished, the team gave the whole body a stylish makeover in Hellraisin, a particularly vivid and eye-catching shade of purple. Matching accents found their way onto the brake calipers and into the cabin.

The engine bay got to keep its 6.4-liter naturally aspirated V8 with 491 PS (485 hp / 361 kW) and 643 Nm (475 lb-ft) of torque. Driving the rear wheels is a six-speed manual transmission.

We were expecting to see the luxurious droptop sell for a six-digit amount when it cropped up at an online auction several days ago, but the bidding fell short of the reserve at just $45,000.
