Stellantis begins solid-state battery tests

Stellantis has spent four years developing promising solid-state battery cell technologies, and has now finally taken a few Dodge Charger Daytona EVs out for some road tests.

The companies reckon that the technology should be ripe for commercial use by 2028. In the meantime, Stellantis once again postponed the launched of its battery-powered RAM 1500 REV pickup. The new launch date is “summer 2027”.

The automaker explains that it needs more time to polish the design of the truck and optimize its parameters, but we suspect that this vague description conceals the desire to wait until these new batteries are available.
