Dongfeng launches a new sedan EV in China

Dongfeng has started the domestic sales of its next electric vehicle, the eπ 007. According to Car News China, the showrooms will take deliveries later this quarter, and prices will be starting from 159,000 Yuan.

The Chinese corporation started the sub-brand ‘eπ’ specifically for electric vehicles. The 007 sedan is medium-sized at 4,880 mm (190.7 inches) long, 1,895 mm (74 inches) wide and 1,460 mm (57 inches) tall. The wheelbase amounts to 2,915 mm (113.9 inches).

On the outside, the car sports pop-up doors at the front and an active spoiler at the back. The drag ratio is a low 0.209, which is considered class-leading in the production EV segment.

The cabin is finished in two different colors and keeps hardware buttons to a minimum. The driver gets an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chipset. Even in its most basic form, the car comes with 31 preinstalled sensors that unlock Level 2 self-driving capabilities.

The eπ 007 can be obtained in RWD and AWD flavors. Those who need the most range can option their car with a 1.5-liter range-extender engine and get up to 1,200 km (745 miles) of driving per tank. In all-electric mode, the hybrid’s 28.39-kWh battery pack will only be good for 200 km (124 miles) of CLTC-rated range.
