Chery’s Exeed sub-brand has made its Yaoguang a.k.a. RX crossover available in a new edition called Global. Domestic prices range from 139,900 to 189,900 CNY (U.S. $19,650–26,675), CarNewsChina reports.
Compared to the older Exeed RX for the local market, the new RX Global Edition features a solid panel where its radiator grille once was and a new front bumper, but the DRLs and the rest of the lights stay the same. A peek inside the cabin reveals that it, too, is largely identical to the Chinese domestic market spec.
Power for the RX Global Edition comes from the familiar 1.5-liter engine rated at 156 PS (154 hp / 115 kW) and either one or more e-motors. The base spec gets 204 PS (201 hp / 150 kW) and 310 Nm (229 lb-ft) of torque from just one motor, driving the front axle along with the engine with a combined 360 PS (355 hp / 265 kW) and 530 Nm (391 lb-ft). Its Chery-branded 19.53-kWh battery pack is good for 120 km (75 miles) of all-electric range, the company claims.
Paying extra for the mid spec gets you two front e-motors and 381 PS (376 hp / 280 kW) with 610 Nm (450 lb-ft) of torque heading for the front wheels. The battery comes from CATL and stores 34.46 kWh of energy, delivering up to 210 km (130 miles) of range.
Buyers of the flagship spec enjoy an additional motor on the rear axle, which drives it with 238 PS (235 hp / 175 kW) and 310 Nm (229 lb-ft). This is the only AWD variant of the new Exeed RX. The CATL battery stays the same and delivers 200 km (124 miles) per charge.
In its top performance guise, the SUV can sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.26 seconds, the company claims. The top speed is capped at 200 km/h (124 mph) in all variants and the hybrid range doesn’t exceed 1,400 km (870 miles).
Interior features include an infotainment system running Chery’s Lion 5.0 operating system on Snapdragon 8155 hardware and two merged 12.3-inch displays. An eight-channel Sony audio system, a wireless charger and ambient lighting are also on the list.
