Rare Ferrari fails to sell for $193k

A 16-year-old, low-mileage, stick-shift Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano has gone on auction recently and managed to attract a top bid of U.S. $193,000, but the owner wasn’t impressed and held on to it.

The Italian automaker made roughly 3,500 units of its 599 GTB model (see video), but only 30 out of them had a six-speed manual gearbox. The rest of the production run went six-speed automatic. It was also Maranello’s last V12-powered car in history to have a gear lever and three pedals.

The owner of the example seen in the gallery below must have wanted it to have a high exclusivity value – hence the stick shift and less than 13,000 km (8,000 miles) of use on the odometer.

Powered by a six-liter, naturally aspirated V12 rated at 620 PS (612 hp / 456 kW), the 599 GTB was Ferrari’s most powerful street-legal car ever when it premiered in 2006. Its engine was based on the legendary Enzo block and took the grand tourer from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.7 seconds. The top speed reached 330 km/h (205 mph).

This particular example was optioned with bi-Xenon headlights, 20-inch wheels, power seats and a Kenwood radio plugged into a Bose sound system. The trim is predominantly beige leather and carbon.
