1976 Ford Mustang flaunts a rear end that’s 39 years younger than it is

A very unusual Ford Mustang is up for grabs in the USA right now with a tail transplant, an alleged cabin makeover and a maintained stock engine. The $27,500 price it commands looks a bit on the step side for a ride 46 years old, so let’s take a closer look.

The first thing that catches the eye is the rear end transplanted from a 2015 ‘Stang. The taillights, trunk lid and spoiler have all been borrowed from the newer model, while the color-matched rear diffuser looks like an aftermarket part. Per-wheel rear suspension rounds things off here.

A glimpse of the front end reveals a reshaped front bumper. 20-inch wheels fill out the arches, the door handles sit flush with the body, and the locks can be opened remotely.

The cabin is not shown in the photos and the video provided, but the seller claims it received some new upholstery. Power still comes from a 5.0-liter V8 engine that used to make 243 PS (240 hp / 179 kW) in its glory days. The full mileage is uncertain, but the owner says he has driven it 50 miles (80 km) before the winter – whatever that is supposed to mean.

The question is, would you pay the asking price for the unique look alone?
