Tuning voiture
Hennessey has applied its tuning package to the range-topping Ford Mustang Dark Horse and decided to compare it against an unlikely rival – a stock BMW M8 with 233 horsepower less under the hood.
To put things into perspective, the standard Dark Horse delivers a healthy 507 PS (500 hp / 373 kW) along with 566 Nm (417 lb-ft) of torque. The Texan tuner installs an upgrade supercharger, a superior fuel pump, new injectors and a high-flow cold air intake system. This and other upgrades allow the stock 5.0-liter V8 to output as much as 862 PS (850 hp / 634 kW) along with 881 Nm (650 lb-ft) of torque. Tuned like this, the Mustang sprints 0-96 km/h (0-60 mph) in 3.2 seconds.
The Bavarian coupe makes do with “just” 625 PS (617 hp / 460 kW), but reaches 96 km/h in the same time as the Mustang. In fact, some have managed to launch it in sub-3-second range. It also runs a sub-11-second quarter-mile, so should be a worthy rival to the Mustang.
Nonetheless, in the video, the tuned muscle car effortlessly overtakes its opponent in both races. We’ll leave the conclusions to you.
