Geely has given its Icon SUV based on the Coolray platform some nip-and-tuck, but the real changes are all found inside and under the hood.
On the outside, the boxy soft-roader looks the same except only for the new radiator grille. A peek inside reveals a digital dash screen and an infotainment display combined under a single pane of glass. The air vents are smaller than before, and the lever in front of the passenger is gone. The door panels are slightly redesigned, too, while the transmission tunnel remains the same. Ambient lighting now offers 72 color tints to choose from.
A new camera installed on the left a-pillar recognizers drivers, automatically loads their favorite settings and monitors drowsiness levels when driving. The infotainment suite benefits from a switch to a new operating system and offers a touchscreen for access to all in-car functions; there are no hardware buttons anymore.
Like the recently updated Coolray, the Icon has traded its 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine for a four-cylinder one with the same displacement. This enables it to produce 181 PS (179 hp / 133 kW) and 290 Nm (214 lb-ft) of torque instead of the former 177 PS (175 hp / 130 kW) and 255 Nm (188 lb-ft). The new mill is also quite liberal in its gasoline preferences, settling for ON 92.
A seven-speed DCT drives the front wheels, taking the SUV from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.9 seconds.
