Hyundai announced this spring that all Genesis-badged cars would be fully electric starting from mid-2020s. Many believed the G70 would be replaced by the all-electric GV60 and would not go into another generation – but The Korean Car Blog now has different news for us.
According to the publication, the G70 will receive a facelift next year and a generational update in 2026 or later. The alleged insider claims it will be redesigned to be in line with the more recent Genesis models, like the G80 and the G90, and the latest concepts. The metamorphoses will be much like those the Hyundai Grandeur went through, the source says.
It is unclear whether the new G70 will stay unchanged under the hood. If anything, a 48V starter-generator could be added to all currently available gas engines for a mild-hybrid setup.
The facelift is expected to debut in the spring of 2023, becoming the second refresh for the G70. The next generation will be fully electric, The Korean Car Blog believes.
