Japanese tuners unveil another controversial take on the Honda Civic Type R

When Japan-based tuning shop Mugen launched its RC20GT body kit for the Honda Civic Type R, it garnered mixed reviews. A few days ago, the company announced an alternative kit for the model. So, how does it hold up?

Perhaps not too well. The carbon front grille, front spoiler, and side skirt extensions look more or less in place, but the rear end once again sports an over-the-top diffuser attachment that looks like something borrowed from a Lamborghini Centenario. Needless to say, what suits the Lambo does not necessarily fit the character of the Civic. Oh, and you may also pay Mugen to have the triple exhaust tips replaced by more mundane-looking dual ones. Do not ask us why. Please.

Mugen’s second take on the Honda Civic Type R also includes carbon side mirror caps, window-mounted deflectors, a new hood scoop, and 20-inch wheels obtainable with in-house lowering springs. The rims look sort of nice, if suspiciously close to certain Alpina designs.

Alright, own up: do you like the Mugen version of the Civic, or would you rather prefer the vanilla car?
