The plug-in hybrid crossover known as the Hongqi HS6 has made its second entry in the Guinness Book of Records for doing more than 1,000 kilometers on a single fuel fill and charge in extremely cold weather.
According to Sina quoting a press release from FAW Hongqi, the SUV managed to cover 1,131.133 kilometers (702.9 miles) with the outdoor temperature staying within –20…–30 ºC (–4…–22 ºF). Moreover, Hongqi claims it had put the car outside for two hours to cool down before starting the test.
We are told that the powertrain and equipment were entirely stock in the test. The HS6 approached the starting line packing a 60-liter gas tank and a 40-kWh battery pack. It had its standard 150-PS (148-hp / 110-kW) engine and either one or two electric motors – this wasn’t clarified. The climate control system was set to maintain +25 ºC (+77 ºF) in the cabin throughout the entire drive.
In last November, the same car made it into the Guinness Book for the overall best hybrid range of 2,327.343 km (1446.1 miles).
