The iconic Jaguar E-Type Low Drag GT from Eagle hits auction and $620k

A UK-based tuning company named Eagle produced six Jaguar E-Type restomods in early 2010s, and one of them was featured in a Top Gear episode in 2015. It has now crossed the auction block at Bring-a-Trailer and has managed to attract a top bid of $619,000 with five days remaining on the clock.

Working with the standard E-Type convertible, Eagle turned it into a sleek vehicle known as the “Low Drag GT” thanks to a completely new aluminum body. It received a special finish that resembled mercury and could be easily mistaken for polished aluminum. 16-inch wheels slotted into the arches along with Vredestein Ultrac Giugiaro Design tires, and every car was prepped for track days with AP Racing brakes, Öhlins shocks and bucket seats in the cabin.

Power for the exquisite restomod originated from a 4.7-liter six-cylinder engine featuring an aluminum block, forged pistons, a billet crankshaft and numerous other track-friendly modifications. A five-speed manual transmission with a limited-slip differential sent the power to the wheels. The example on sale has no specific numbers listed, but the video proves that it packs plenty of punch, even by modern standards.

Dark blue leather was chosen for the interior. The driver who commissioned this example optioned it with an Alcantara headliner, an upgraded AC and a modern audio system. Judging by roughly 9,500 km (5,900 miles) on the odometer, the car hadn’t seen too much use post-restoration.
