At a recent investor meeting, Kia executives have confirmed that a new truck was in development for the United States, as well as an innovative four-cylinder engine.

The engine commands 2.5 liters of turbocharged displacement and is said to output 12% more power than the model it’s set to replace. Not only that, but its thermal efficiency is also 5% higher.

Kia stressed that the engine was designed largely for use in hybrid powertrains and not as a standalone power source for an ICE car.
