Lamborghini explains why it had to ditch the NA V10

Rouven Mohr, the CTO of Lamborghini, has revealed the main reason that forced the company to leave its naturally aspirated ten-cylinder engine behind.

As many of us have guessed by now, it’s all in the strict environmental regulations. By making the classic V10 compliant with the latest standards, the Italian automaker would be losing at least 20% of its power output – and that’s the most optimistic assessment. Because of this, the company had initially even considered putting a paltry V6 into its newest supercar, the Temerario.

After realizing that its clientele would probably boycott an engine as small as that, Lambo changed its mind and equipped the Temerario with a “reasonable” 4.0-liter V8 assisted by an electric powertrain.
