Rumor: Next-gen Lexus LX to come out later in 2021

Insiders are claiming that Lexus will be unveiling the next LX generation mere two or three months after the debut of the Тойоты Land Cruiser 300, which is expected to arrive in May. Sales in Japan should begin in October and actual shipments in late 2021, with the new LX priced between 8% and 10% higher than the old one.

The car is envisioned as an upmarket version of the Land Cruiser 300 based on the same platform and powertrains. Having said that, there will be certain differences, too.

For instance, the new LX will should get a UR-series 5.7-liter gasoline V8 like its predecessor did, whereas the Land Cruiser 300 will allegedly only ship with six cylinders under the hood.

Furthermore, the LX should be available with a hybrid powertrain as well, likely dubbed the 500h. Its 3.3-liter six-cylinder turbo diesel will reportedly be the same as in the Land Cruiser. The top spec will be named LX600 and pack a 3.5-liter turbocharged six-cylinder worth 422 PS (416 hp / 310 kW).
