A 700-hp Lincoln Continental restomod goes on sale

Barrett-Jackson will be auctioning off a 1964 Lincoln Continental in Scottsdale, Arizona in late January. The car has been restored and modernized, and is heading to the auction without an estimate.

Power for the build comes from a 5.0-liter, supercharged Ford Coyote V8. The output is not available, but similar projects typically hover close to 700 horsepower (522 kilowatts). Custom manifolds, an aluminum radiator and lots of other purpose-built internals ensure smooth running, while a Borla exhaust system lends the car its unique soundtrack. The transmission is six-speed automatic and also comes from Ford.

The suspension benefits from a modern multilink design with adjustable coilovers. Rack-and-pinion steering has been implemented and power-assisted disc brakes have been installed. The 20-inch wheels look like a retro model, but they are actually modern, too.

Novelty inside comes in the form of leather-draped seats, Dakota Digital gauges and a Restomod Air AC. The car has auto-closing doors and a powerful audio system with Bluetooth support pieced together from Retrosound, Focal and JL Audio components.
