Maserati GranTurismo & GranCabrio get a louder V6 edition

The Meccanica Lirica package endows the GranTurismo coupe and the GranCabrio convertible with some visual upgrades while also making their soundtrack juicier to compensate for the lack of a V8.

The car with the fixed roof can now be ordered in a saturated shade of red known as the Rosso Velluto. Its topless cousin can be specced in Oro Lirico yellow. Both ride on 21-inch wheels and boast matte-gold badges. The interior color scheme seems to be the same for both: Bordeaux red leather and light beige Alcantara go along with red poplar accents and light gold-tinted trims.

All power is still provided by the same 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 configured to output 550 PS (542 hp / 405 kW). A new exhaust system is supposed to make it sound like a big deal, and Maserati claims it changes the sound profile based on your chosen drive preset. All profiles supposedly deliver a “rich and expressive” exhaust note, so there’s that.

In related news, the GranTurismo and GranCabrio are no longer made at the factory in Turin, Italy. All production has moved to the automaker’s historical production site in Modena. Commenting on the move, the company said it needed to free up the capacities for the new Fiat 500.
