The YouTube channel km77.com has posted a video showing the all-electric Mazda MX-30 SUV trying to evade a sudden obstacle moving at a relatively high speed.
The automaker’s first battery car performed rather well at 75 km/h (46.6 miles per hour), only hitting one traffic cone during the evasion maneuver. A run at 74 km/h (46 mph) went flawlessly, and higher speed runs failed due to slow cornering ability and interference of electronic aids. Overall, the test crew said the MX-30 performed satisfactorily well and should cause no trouble when avoiding animals suddenly cropping up on the road.
The SUV comes powered by a single electric motor rated at 143 PS (141 hp / 105 kW) and a traction battery rated for 200 kilometers (124 miles) of range.
