This 1994 Mercedes W124 with Porsche touches costs more than a new E-Class

Why would you – or anyone, for that matter – but a 27-year old W124 Mercedes E-Class in Russia for an amount that buys you a brand-new one? Actually, because it is a rare E 500 model co-developed with Porsche.

The model went into production in 1991 and stayed there until 1994. It had a 5.0-liter SL-Class V8 under the hood, which necessitated redesigning its front fascia considerably. The mill produced 320 PS (316 hp / 325 kW) paired up with a four-speed automatic transmission, taking the car from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.5 seconds and up to a maximum of 260 km/h (161 mph).

Porsche handled the chassis and suspension, reducing the clearance, widening the track and installing performance brakes. It was also trusted with the actual production.

During the last production year, the company made a Limited Edition series with a dual-tone leather/wood interior trim and an even lower stance. Different sources report that between 500 and 950 such cars was made in total. One of them is up for grabs in Russia right now, and it is shown on the photos. The video shows another example.

The seller has the certificate of authenticity and claims the car underwent a full body maintenance at a certain point, having its panels re-painted, coated with zinc, and sealed. There is no mention of when it was done, but the car has only run 5,600 km (3,480 miles) since the restoration.
