A while ago, Polish interior customizer Carlex Design unveiled a true work of art on wheels: the G-Falcon (see video). It reportedly took a whole decade to produce. Now, the same company is offering a similar-if-less-sophisticated overhaul to other Mercedes G-Class owners.
It is called the Carlex G-Vintage and runs on the latest G-Wagen underpinnings. The exterior gets dressed out in an extensive carbon-fiber body kit with silver and chrome accents, a raised Mercedes star on the hood, and a contrasting upper body. The suspension gets redesigned with 100 mm (roughly 4 inches) of added clearance.
We’d expect Carlex Design to produce a lavish interior first and foremost, and this project is no exception. The G-Class gets retrimmed from the ground up with high-quality aged leather and precious wood inserts. Customers are choosing from three leather types and over 600 color hues.
Engine isn’t something the Polish tuner usually messes with, but the G-Vintage does get some attention in that department as well. The stock twin-turbo V8 powering the G 63 AMG spec gets massaged to 805 PS (794 hp / 592 kW) and 1,020 Nm (752 lb-ft) of torque. This raises the top speed to 260 km/h (161 mph).
All pricing is private.
