2025 Mitsubishi Outlander shows up with subtle exterior updates, better tech

Mitsubishi has shared some photos of its facelifted Outlander PHEV. The changes appear minimal at a glance, but the company promises us improved driving range and comfort along with state-of-the-art infotainment tech.

The premiere should take place soon, but in the meantime, let’s have a look at the SUV as it is. The front end looks only marginally different from the current version with mildly updated headlights. The 20-inch wheel is completely new, though. Semi-aniline leather is now listed under the available trimming materials, and the multimedia display now measures 12.3 inches corner-to-corner (up from 9 inches in the old version). Mitsubishi also promises us a new premium audio system co-developed with Yamaha.

The hybrid powertrain stays the same overall, but gets a host of minor improvements. The battery pack gets replaced with one providing superior range, the power output goes up slightly and the car gets various optimizations to conserve energy. Mitsubishi doesn’t quote any figures just yet, but claims that the 2025 Outlander can travel much farther in electric mode without firing up the engine. Last but not least, we are told that the suspension and the steering were reworked based on owner feedback.

In its current guise, the Outlander PHEV utilizes a 2.4-liter engine and an electric motor to deliver 251 PS (248 hp / 185 kW) to the asphalt. It runs out of battery juice after 60 km (37 miles).
