Kia unveils the ultimate, one-off Stinger GT420

The British subdivision of Kia Motors has unveiled the Stinger GT420, a unique non-road-legal liftback vehicle with high-end suspension and drivetrain upgrades.

The racecar was designed in cooperation with the marque’s technological center located in Ruesselsheim, Germany. It weighs 150 kilograms (330 pounds) less than the normal Stinger GT thanks to the removed audio system, interior padding, rear sofa, and sunroof. All that remains are two bucket seats and a roll cage.

The performance specs of the Kia Stinger GT420 remain undisclosed. The regular GT does the 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint in 4.9 seconds.

Powering the racecar is an improved 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 engine fitted with a new ECU, a K&N zero resistance air filter, HKS M45il spark plugs, and a non-catalytic exhaust system. Whereas the standard version of the engine produces 370 hp (276 kW) and 510 Nm (376 lb-ft) of torque, the mod churns out 428 hp (319 kW) along with 560 Nm (413 lb-ft). The eight-speed automatic transmission is still there, but it also benefits from a number of design improvements.

Other notable features include 19-inch OZ Racing Leggera wheels wrapped in Pirelli Trofeo-R tires and six-piston Brembo front brakes with 380mm (14.8”) discs.
