Next-gen Audi RS6 Avant comes out for a ride

Audi unveiled the standard A6 wagon this spring, but its high-performance RS6 counterpart won’t be arriving until 2026. It has now been spotted running pre-production tests powered by a 700-PS (690 hp / 515 kW) hybrid system, according to rumors.

The estate was spotted in the vicinity of the Nürburgring and on the track proper, wearing a thick camo wrap with original graphics. Despite all the attempts at disguise, it’s already clear that it has a rather advanced aero kit including large front air intakes, prominent side sill extensions, a rear spoiler and a diffuser. The oversized tailpipes seen here may or may not be fake.

The interior hasn’t been revealed yet, but we expect it to be the same as that of the current A6, just with added sporty accents, ergonomic seats, a new steering wheel and carbon-fiber trim bits.

It’s also highly likely that the new RS6 will be strictly a hybrid. This is evidenced by the two ports (charging and fueling) seen on the pre-production vehicle in the gallery above. Audi was working on a high-boost V6, so that could be it.
