Nissan’s cheap and practical Gravite lands in India

Customers in India may now purchase the Nissan Gravite minivan starting from the equivalent of U.S. $7,000 – a pittance considering how well-equipped it is.

To be eligible for a tax deduction, the car stays just under four meters (156.3 inches) long. From the technical point of view, it is a close relative of the local Renault Triber, which is turning 7 years old this year. Despite its puny size, the Gravite can be optioned with three seat rows and up to seven seats, although owners will have to fold down or remove the rear two seats whenever any cargo capacity at all is required.

In its most basic form, the newcomer features six airbags, LED lighting all around, automatic emergency braking and electronic stability program. A digital dash and a multimedia system also come included as standard.

All power for the front wheels comes from a 1.0-liter, naturally aspirated three-cylinder engine linked to a five-speed manual gearbox. Semi-auto is available as an option, but all-wheel drive is out of the question.
