Nissan puts a price on China-made Frontier Pro

The new Nissan Frontier Pro is advertised as an international pickup truck designed in China and primarily aimed at that market.

According to CarNewsChina.com, preorders are already running with prices starting from 176,900 Chinese Yuan and reaching 249,900 Yuan with all options ticked. That’s approximately 24,820–35,000 USD. Later on, sales are scheduled to begin in Australia and some other markets.

From the technical standpoint, the new Frontier Pro is a rebadged Nissan-Dongfeng Z9. As such, it utilizes a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine in tandem with an electric system to drive the wheels with 408 PS (402 hp / 300 kW). A 33-kWh battery supplies enough power for 135 km (84 miles) in electric mode, but switching into hybrid mode gets you 1,050 km (652 miles) per refill. This version is also capable of wading water up to 700 mm (27.3 inches) high, the automaker claims.

Those who would rather drive a traditional ICE truck may opt for a 2.0-liter petrol or a 2.3-liter turbo diesel version. All three powertrains are AWD and utilize the same ZF eight-speed automatic transmission.

The exterior looks rugged with its T-shaped headlights and lots of black plastic trims. The headlights and the taillights are linked with LED stripes, and the Nissan badges are illuminated at both ends. A 10-inch digital dashboard in the cabin accompanies a 14.6-inch infotainment display.

The whole truck is 5,520 mm (215.6 inches) long, 1,960 mm (76.6 inches) wide and 1,950 mm (76.2 inches) tall with 3.3 meters (128.9 inches) between the axles. It is rated for trailers weighing up to 3.5 metric tons, or 7,716 pounds.
