Barn-found 1973 Nissan Skyline GT-R on sale for ¥35M

This 47-year-old Nissan Skyline GT-R may be in a dismal state, but it belongs to a series of only 197 production units, out of which only 7 were finished red, so don’t be too surprised at the 35,000,000 JPY ($338,270 USD) asking price.

The car is currently on sale in Japan and has around 50,000 kilometers (31,000 miles) under its rust-eaten, dust-choked belt. The interior and the engine need a complete overhaul.

The second-gen GT-R (see video) debuted in the fall of 1972, but its production halted permanently in the spring of 1973 in the wake of the global oil crisis. The iconic GT-R left the assembly lines for 16 long years.

Each unit came powered by a two-liter inline-six engine rated at 162 PS (160 hp / 119 kW) in conjunction with a five-speed manual gearbox. It needed 8.8 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) and maxed out at 190 km/h (118 mph).
