Nissan Sentra NISMO should be a thing, says tuner

The Sentra sedan went into its eighth generation in 2020 and received a mild facelift last year, but Nissan continues offering it with a lackluster 2.0-liter four-pot rated at 151 PS (149 hp / 111 kW) and a CVT. Tuner Nick Scherr from Arizona, known online as NISMO Nick, claims he has a much better Sentra underway to the market.

According to him, the idea is to design a modern and sporty, NISMO-inspired vehicle based on the stock Sentra platform and largely OEM accessories. These include coilover-based height-adjustable suspension, a performance exhaust system and lightweight wheels, as well as custom body graphics and interior trim.

The tuning package is known as the Sentra SE RS and is scheduled to go on sale in the United States in February. No engine or transmission mods are included in the first version, but Scherr says he’s preparing a much more special Sentra build for the next SEMA show. That car will feature a powerful turbocharged engine and manual transmission. Once it is complete, the tuning program may become available to everyone interested.
