Porsche 911 GT3 covers 5,000 km at 300 km/h

Porsche has put its new 911 GT3 through rigorous endurance testing. Among other things, the car has covered over 3,100 miles (5,000 km) on the Nardo Raceway in Italy going at a near-constant 186 miles per hour (300 km/h).

Since the test was held to assess the overall stability of all units and components, the road-going GT3 received a lubrication system upgrade not unlike those used in endurance racing. The 4.0-liter naturally aspirated engine has additionally spent over 22,000 hours revving at a dyno.

The Nardo test run was only ever interrupted when refueling became necessary, and took nearly 17 hours to complete. The company described the powertrain as “flawless”.

This isn’t everything: the new GT3 has recently lapped up the North Loop of the Nürburgring in 6:55.2, or 6:59.927 if you count the entire 20.8-kilometer long track instead of the more commonly quoted 20.6-km stretch. Both results are 17+ seconds faster than the previous generation.
