Rare Gunther Werks 400R restomod goes under the hammer

Bring a Trailer is looking for a new owner for a Gunther Werks 400R restomod, one out of only 25 units made in total. It boasts the number 1 in series and is already being traded at U.S. $1,000,000 with a week remaining on the clock. Carscoops believes the bidding could exceed $1,500,000.

Starting with a 993-gen Porsche 911, Gunther Werks tore the car down to the last screw, replaced all body panels with carbon-fiber ones and replaced the ducktail spoiler with a rear wing on some examples (but evidently not this one). They also swapped in coil-over suspension springs, reinforced anti-sway bars, Brembo six-piston calipers, custom suspension arms and 18-inch forged wheels.

Power for the build came from a 4.0-liter, air-cooled flat-six engine built at Rothsport Racing. The mill makes use of upgraded pistons and connecting rods, as well as new intake and ignition. The power is not stated anywhere, but the transmission is a Getrag six-speed manual.

The interior trim makes use of red leather, Alcantara and carbon-fiber accents. The rear bench seat has been removed.
