Porsche restomods coming from Gunther Werks tend to land on the pricier side even by the industry’s already lofty standards, reportedly starting from $850,000 before options. This 911 must be worth over a million, though, what with all the 24-carat gold plating.
The exterior of the car is made as lightweight as possible thanks to all-carbon bodywork, magnesium alloy wheels and a roll cage where the rear bench seat usually is. The front seats are carbon-backed, too. As a result, the whole thing tips the scale at just 1,250 kilograms (2,750 lbs).
As any self-respecting restomod, this one benefits from suspension and braking upgrades. These include custom control arms, heavy-duty bushings, new anti-sway bars and adaptive coil-over shocks. Braking is handled by six-piston Brembo calipers at the front end and four-piston ones at the rear.
Genuine gold décor can be found on the manual transmission lever, the steering wheel controls and the plaques on the seat backs. The rest of the cockpit wears soft saddle leather and eschews things like contrast stitching or piping in favor of a clean, minimalist look.
Peeking inside the engine bay reveals a reworked air-cooled flat-six engine tuned to deliver 862 PS (850 hp / 634 kW) and 814 Nm (600 lb-ft) of torque. A six-speed manual transmission sends the momentum to the rear end through a limited-slip differential.
Only 75 such 911 Turbo restomods will be offered, after which Gunther Werks plans to switch its attention back to naturally aspirated models.
