Porsche launches a configurator, but cars aren’t involved

Porsche is one of the few automotive marques to own a watchmaking factory in Switzerland. Starting this week, customers of the company may use a newly launched online configurator to piece together their dream watch.

Porsche Design emphasizes that no two watches will look exactly the same. Just like with some sports cars, you can now choose any finish for the watch case and bezel ($250) and pick one out of six available finishes for the leather strap. These include green, red, blue, truffle, beige, and graphite grey.

Personalizing the chronometer costs $5,150, and you can specify the casing and the fastener to be made of titanium. Throwing in an extra $300 nets you both parts in a fashionable black titanium look.

A separate version of the Porsche Design configurator is offered to all owners of the 911 GT3 (see video), complete with exclusive colors, materials and even engravings.
