800-PS Porsche 911 GT3 RS does a sub-7-minute North Loop run

SSR Performance continues to unveil its custom racing supercar built with the Porsche 911 GT3 RS underpinnings over the course of nearly two years. Known as the Project Leo, it is advertised as a “clean-sheet” redevelopment instead of a simple tune-up. The numbers seem to corroborate this.

To be specific, the engine receives assistance from two custom turbochargers that drive its output far beyond the stock 532 PS (525 hp / 391 kW). Any official figures will have to wait until the premiere, but we hear from unofficial sources that the Project Leo packs over 800 PS (789 hp / 588 kW). That’s more than any mass-produced Porsche 911 can send to the asphalt. It’s not electrified in the slightest, either.

On the outside, the coupe wears an aero kit that partially resembles OEM parts while also giving us a distinct Manthey Racing vibe. There’s a front splitter, a rear diffuser, a rear wing and other, smaller trim bits in the mix.

Perhaps most impressively, the company has hinted that the Project Leo made a Nürburgring lap that lasted less than seven minutes. It remains open how many examples of the supercar SSR Performance plans to produce and what the prices are like.
