Renault Twingo Z.E. goes emotional

After seven years of waiting and an online reveal due to the coronavirus, the all-electric Renault Twingo Z.E. finally goes on sale in France in September. To compensate for the long waiting, the manufacturer announced a special edition called Vibes.

The car comes in two exterior designs: orange with white accents and vice versa. Both wear sporty stripes on the rear doors and the roof, although the latter bit is optional. This is the first time Renault makes use of the Valencia Orange pigment.

Color accents can be found on the radiator grille, 16-inch wheel rims and wheel hardware. Side moldings bear the name of the special edition.

The cabin uses the same color scheme and comes trimmed with artificial leather and cloth. There are special floor mats and door sills, and the Easy Link infotainment system screen measures seven inches corner-to-corner. Other than that, the car corresponds to the Intens trim level.

A single electric motor produces 81.6 hp (60 kW) and 160 Nm (119 lb-ft) of torque, taking the EV from zero to 50 km/h (0-31 mph) in four seconds flat. Top speed amounts to 135 km/h (84 mph), and a 22-kWh traction battery grants up to 180 kilometers (112 miles) of WLTP-rated range.

Like the Renault Zoe, the model uses the Z.E. Voice synth to warn pedestrians about the approaching car. The sound volume depends on the proximity, and the system turns off after 30 km/h (18.6 mph).

The gasoline-powered Renault Twingo lineup will receive Vibes as an upgrade package later.
