Japanese tuners awaken the Renault Twingo’s inner beast

JDM tuning company Hatano has unveiled two very eccentric-looking body kits for the older third generation of Renault Twingo. Only one of them will reach the market, but that’s arguably not a bad thing.

Starting with the blue car, it is called the C’eLavie 105 Maxi Concept and draws inspiration from Renault’s own Twin’Run Concept introduced way back in 2013. It boasts massively flared fenders (by 210 mm / 8.3”), air vents in the rear doors and a towering rear wing. It also sports a different rear bumper and diffuser, as well as a new exhaust system.

The front end arguably looks the most outlandish with its six round white LEDs encased in orange bezels. The goldish-hued wheels appear a bit out-of-place, too. The tuner points out that this wheel design was created specifically for the Alpine A110 by OZ Racing and French aftermarket shop Ravage.

The blue Twingo will forever remain a one-off (we can hear some of you breathing a sigh of relief), but it is scheduled to undergo a massive engine upgrade soon. Its old and feeble 0.9-liter engine should soon be replaced with a supercharged V6 delivering several times the original power. It’s for that engine that the microcar has a roll cage inside and two bucket seats without a back row.

The red car looks almost tame in comparison with its four headlight barnacles and 105mm (4-inch) flares. This version of the styling will actually get a limited production run in Japan.
