Kia Futuron EV opens the CIIE 2019 show in Shanghai

South Korea-based carmaker Kia has brought a new all-electric design study called the Futuron to the 2019 China International Import Expo (CIIE) show in Shanghai.

The prototype vehicle is shaped like a coupe/SUV and sports a smooth and curvy body design with two doors and enormous wheels. The company calls it an all-electric, AWD sports car, but refrains from naming any of the specs. As an experimental design study, the Futuron will most likely never make it into actual production, but Kia may want to implement some of its features in its other models.

Other highlights visible on the 3D renderings include the long wheelbase and the enormous backlit radiator grille. The presence of LIDAR sensors indicates that the prototype packs an SAE Level 4 or higher autonomous driving tech on board.

The cabin is just as futuristic as the body, and the front seats are programmed to recline automatically whenever you activate the self-driving mode.
