Lincoln Corsair SUV to arrive later in 2019

Car manufacturer Lincoln has come to the New York automobile show with its new SUV named Corsair, meant as a replacement for the Lincoln MKC. Sales in the USA will begin before the end of 2019, and the newcomer will face most of its competition from the Cadillac XT4, BMW X3, Lexus NX, and Volvo XC60.

The new model uses the C2 architecture of the 4th-gen Ford Focus and borrows certain design traits from the Nautilus, Aviator, and Navigator. It comes equipped with a new radiator grille sporting vertical fins, restyled bumper, panoramic glass roof, and refreshed headlights.

The cabin boasts a genuine leather and wood trim and houses an 8-inch touch-enabled multimedia display, a digital dashboard, a wireless phone charger, and massage seats. On a curious note, the company went as far as to commission the Detroit Symphonic Orchestra to play several music pieces and then edit the recordings into notification and warning sounds for the new car.

The engine palette of the Lincoln Corsair currently consists of two options. One is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine pumping out 250 hp (186 kW) along with 373 Nm (275 lbft) of maximum torque. The other is a 2.3-liter engine churning out 280 hp (209 kW). A hybrid powertrain will become available later.
