Stellantis considers merging Maserati with Alfa Romeo

Santo Ficili, the leader of Maserati and Alfa Romeo brands, said that the parent company was considering a merger of the two Italian automakers into one.

Neither of the brands is in a good financial situation right now, so uniting efforts would at least help with cutting the production and development costs. The leadership at Stellantis has yet to vote on this decision, though, so it’s not guaranteed to happen just yet.

According to earlier reports, Stellantis had considered shutting down Alfa Romeo, Maserati or both companies. The company has since released a statement saying it didn’t plan on getting rid of either badge, but was instead looking into making them financially viable.
