Surprise, Surprise: Tesla Roadster gets delayed again

Elon Musk caused quite a few ripples in the automotive industry in November 2017, when he revealed his next-gen Tesla Roadster. Rewind to nowadays, and the production was pushed back to 2021, then 2022, and now ultimately to 2023.

Musk made the new delay known through his social media pages, because Tesla Inc. no longer has a PR department. Apparently, the company experienced the same supply issues as many others, namely semiconductor shortage. General Motors has been recently forced to ship its new cars without some high-tech options and aids. Others, like Ford, have to keep thousand of finished vehicles parked in wait for their crucial components.

Despite the hardships, Tesla had actually fared quite well throughout 2020 and 2021, intensifying its production just as all others shrank it due to shortages. In the end, however, the EV manufacturer had to admit that the ongoing crisis started to affect it, too.

In earlier news, the same reason was cited for the delay of the Cybertruck.
