Tesla assures us that it will be ready to proceed with the assembly of its Semi trucks in late 2022. In the meantime, the EV maker has updated the page of its website dedicated to the truck and posted a short video showing its interior.
It looks like the production vehicle will still place the driver’s seat in the center of the cabin for better visibility. The steering wheel is identical to that of the Model 3 and Model Y and houses hardware buttons for the horn and the turn signals. Paddle shifters aren’t anywhere to be seen, suggesting that there could be a different way for turning the windshield wipers on and switching gears. Multiple gadget charging ports can be seen, too.
The Semi is expected to sprint 0-97 km/h (0-60 mph) in five seconds flat when empty and 20 seconds with the maximum permissible load of 36 metric tons (80,000 pounds). Depending on your chosen modification, the range will vary between 483 and 805 kilometers (300 – 500 miles).
Pre-orders have been running since May against a non-refundable deposit of 20,000 USD.
