Modern Defender headlights are a shockingly good fit for the old Land Cruiser 70

Blackbox Custom 4×4, a tuning company based in Costa Rica, has unveiled an upgrade package for the oldie-but-goldie of all SUVs, the Land Cruiser 70 Series. If the old halogen headlamps aren’t doing it for you, you may now replace them with the LED lighting units of the latest Land Rover Defender.

The best part, the company claims, is that no structural modifications are required. The round lamps fit just fine, supported by the original bumper and radiator grille. Should you want more, you can always grab an alternative bumper from ARB, a roof rack, fender flares and a snorkel for wading deep water – as shown here. The tuner suggests also using Dobinson springs and remote-reservoir shocks in the suspension, along with putting modern black wheels shod in 35-inch tires into the arches for better off-road performance.

This package is listed on the tuner’s website as the LC76 Wagon. A similar upgrade called LC79 Pickup is available for the pickup version of the Land Cruiser 70. It features different wheels and suspension setup, notably with leaf springs in the back, but otherwise stays close to that of the SUV.

All prices are upon request only. Both vehicles pictured in the gallery above are already sold, but you can reach out to Blackbox Custom 4×4 with a custom request.
